Guide to “Digimon Story: Time and Space Heroes” Blog Layout and Visual Guide
If you have ever been obsessed with monster collecting RPGs, you should understand the thrill of watching your Digimon evolve into super powerful forms. I just spent 40 hours fully immersing myself in “Digimon Story: Chrono Trigger”, completing missions, chasing digital evolution, and some extremely difficult boss battles. To be honest, this game is not difficult, but I also took many detours before learning a few lessons.
If you are ready to pick up your digital device and step into the digital world, here are a few key points I wish I knew from the beginning.
The ‘side mission warning’? It must be taken seriously
Imagine this scenario: I have reached a level in the story and a prompt pops up:
“Some side quests will be unavailable soon.”
(Some side quests are about to be unable to be completed)
I thought to myself, ‘It’s okay, I’ll finish the main task first and come back in an hour.’ But in the end, I was so wrong. Several hours – or more precisely, dozens of hours – passed before I was able to access those side quests again.
Why is this important? Side quests are not just “extra plot” or loot, they are the main source of abnormal points that determine your Agent Rank. Your Digimon’s evolution level is bound to this level. Neglecting even a few side quests in the early stages may keep your entire team at a low level for a long time.
Tip: When a warning appears in the game, pause all other tasks and complete them immediately. Believe me, you will be grateful to yourself in the future.
You can heal and attack in the same round – make good use of it
Most turn based RPGs require you to make a choice: heal the team or attack the enemy? Time and Space Doctor broke this rule. Here, you can heal your Digimon while dealing damage to enemies in the same turn.
This feature has saved me many times in the long boss battles. No longer have to worry about wasting turns on medication – just treat, attack, repeat. To be honest, this simple mechanism greatly reduces combat pressure, allowing you to focus on strategy rather than survival.
Basic principle: Never ignore this feature. After use, your battles will be much smoother.
Agent level can skip monster brushing – plan your skill tree
Do you remember the outlier points given to you by those side quests? They are not only used to level up agents, but also to unlock skill trees that contain various agent skills. Some skills are team specific, such as improving Cross Arts, while others are related to Digimon ‘personalities: friendliness, bravery, etc.
At first, I randomly selected skills, but later I regretted it. Once I focused on the skills that matched my Digimon personality, my team’s leveling speed immediately increased, and I didn’t even need to engage in random battles.
Smart approach: First identify the personality types of core digital treasures, and then plan a skill tree around these personalities. This can save a lot of time.

Don’t hoard Cross Arts – they charge quickly
Cross Arts is super practical – it can heal, increase, or deal high damage while reducing enemy attributes. I made a novice mistake and planned to ‘save it for the Battle of the Grand Leader’.
It was found that they charged very quickly. Every action – attack, defense, use of props – will fill the energy slot. When I faced the leader, Cross Arts was filled again.
Tip: Use them frequently in regular battles. The more you use it, the faster it charges and the easier the battle becomes.
It is essential to keep digital treasures that can be ridden in the team
Some Digimon are not just combat partners – they are also mounts. I used to move quickly with Growlmon… until he evolved into WarGrowlmon. As a result, he is too big to ride anymore.
Fortunately, WereGarurumon took over as the rider. Later, he evolved into MetalGarurumon, and I returned to the rhythm of high-speed travel. Riding can significantly shorten travel time, but it may lose its riding function after evolution.
Reminder: Before evolving, make sure your mount is still available for riding. Losing fast movement midway can be really troublesome.

Final thoughts
Digimon Story: Chrono Trigger is a gem for players who love animal training RPGs. It’s not perfect (I still have a grudge about side quests locking), but the player friendly mechanisms – such as turn healing+attacks, and Cross Arts fast charging – make it easy for beginners to get started and also allow veteran players to enjoy the game.
Remember these tips, your journey to the digital world will be much smoother, faster, and less frustrating than mine.
